Summary of Role

R3 Medical Assistants play a vital role in assuring our Advanced Healing Center’s quality, safety, service, and access by providing flexibility within our patient care teams as multi-function cross trained healthcare professionals, ensuring continuity of care for every patient. The comprehensive role focuses on 3 areas within a clinic – Patient Care Coordination, Wound Care Nursing support & delivery of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

We provide best in class training in-house in conjunction with leading clinical partners & specialists in every market. We invest in and desire our team members to pursue professional certifications in both Wound Care & Hyperbarics.

Effective communication and team orientated approach is critical for clinics success. Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care Coordination

  • Responsible for greeting patients and visitors, answering phones and scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner
  • Process all referrals faxed, in-house referrals, and live calls from providers and patients in a timely manner. Obtain patient PCP referrals when necessary.
  • Ensure complete and accurate patient registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
  • Contact insurance companies to ensure verifications of benefits and prior authorizations approval requirements are met.
  • Place outbound calls to patients to schedule appointments.
  • Coordinating referrals and providing “white glove” service to referral partners and patients

Wound Care Nursing Support

  • Assist the clinic Provider with wound care patients
  • Obtain chief complaint, review of systems, medical, social, surgical, and family histories
  • Perform vitals, documentation in EMR, assist with clinical orders and procedures
  • Track and order medical/office supplies
  • Responsible for knowing emergency protocols and locations of protocols
  • Maintain accurate records regarding allergies, medications, medical, surgical, social, and family histories. Obtaining medical records from physician offices, imaging, testing and other ancillary

Hyperbarics

  • Delivery of Hyperbaric Medicine to patients
  • Perform pre-dive vitals on all patients
  • Perform Blood Glucose testing pre and post hyperbaric oxygen treatment
  • Ensure all hyperbaric chambers are in working order
  • Performs necessary maintenance to systems daily
  • Responsible for knowing emergency protocols and location of protocols
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on all applicable hyperbaric safety codes
  • Maintain accurate records regarding medical history, hyperbaric treatment, and results of each patient session

Qualifications

  • Successful graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred; Willingness to obtain certification timely is required.
  • Strong multi- tasking ability
  • Must have and maintain a positive attitude and outlook
  • Must be able to work in a truly cohesive team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Maintains an elevated level of customer service and compassion with all patients
  • Excellent bedside manner required
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license
