Therapies performed at R3 are covered by most health insurers. However, your insurance provider may require prior authorization for some treatments or possibly disallow some charges. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance company before treatment. The R3 Clinic Liaison can help you with insurance information and with finalizing a payment agreement.
You may have an outdated idea of what a modern hyperbaric chamber looks like. Our state-of-the-art chambers are made of clear acrylic to give you a full view of your surroundings. You’ll have plenty of room to recline comfortably and relax. You will not feel isolated — you’ll be able to see, hear and communicate with your monitoring team at all times. If you still feel you may experience anxiety, our medical director or your primary care physician may prescribe medication to calm you during the procedure.
Depending on the condition being treated, hyperbaric oxygen therapy averages one-and-a-half to two hours in duration, which includes the time needed to bring the oxygen pressure up at the beginning and reduce it at the end of the session. HBOT is painless, although some people feel pressure in their ears similar to what’s experienced during descent of an airplane. We can show you techniques to lessen the pressure in your ears.
People with diabetes, circulatory problems or the inability to move about. Seemingly insignificant cuts, bruises or calluses can become serious chronic wounds if the tissues are deprived of healing oxygen because blood flow to the area is restricted. Skin and underlying tissues that are under constant pressure because the patient is bedridden or confined to a wheelchair also receive insufficient blood supply and may break down. An infection and chronic wound may result. Traumatic injuries, burns and non-healing surgical incisions may become infected and fail to heal.
Our wound care specialists will assess your condition and evaluate your medical history. We may take blood for testing. You’ll receive our recommendations for your treatment plan. Your initial appointment will be in-depth and detailed, so plan on being with us for about two hours.
